5A06 is an Al Mg series rust resistant aluminum alloy that cannot be heat treated for strengthening. This alloy has a higher magnesium content and lower strength, similar to 5A03 alloy. Cold deformation of alloys can increase strength, but decrease plasticity. The plasticity in the annealed state is relatively high, while the plasticity in the semi cold worked hardened state is still acceptable. The alloy has good corrosion resistance and good weldability, suitable for spot welding, atomic hydrogen welding, gas welding, and argon arc welding. Its machinability is poor in the annealed state, and it is still good in the semi cold work hardening state.
